WeCanDays online
In 2020 Childhood Cancer Switzerland held the WeCanDays for the third time in a row. From 24 to 26 July, a colourful range of different workshops and activities were organised, all of which took place virtually due to the Corona pandemic. The WeCanDays were headed up by psycho-oncologist Andreas Dörner and head of the competence centre Zuzana Tomašikova. Reproductive physician and sex therapist Astrid Ahler was invited as an external speaker. The virtual offer also included creative and sports taster courses, which offered everyone an initial opportunity to discover their own talents, get to know each other better and bring some colour into everyday life. Afterwards, the speakers provided information in two separate workshops on topics related to the Corona pandemic as well as body image and self-perception.
The focus of this year’s WeCanDays was to give the participants an insight into different coping strategies, such as mindfulness training, and to support them in the longer term in their current situation through the mutual exchange of experiences and professional discussions. The positive feedback showed that the WeCanDays were also very successful in this virtual format and that there is still a great need for action to develop and expand offers for survivors.
