Award for Childhood Cancer Switzerland

On 5 May 2022, Childhood Cancer Switzerland received the CSS Foundation Award for the project “Weekends accompanied by professionals”. The prize, endowed with CHF 5,000, was presented by Ms Lucrezia Meier-Schatz, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the CSS Foundation.

The “weekends accompanied by professionals” give parents the opportunity to actively deal with the late effects of their son’s/daughter’s cancer and share their experiences as well as their fears and worries with a view to the future. The professional support of specialists from the fields of medicine, psycho-oncology and social security law ensures the current transfer of knowledge in workshops. Furthermore, it is possible for parents to reserve time slots for one-on-one consultations to address very individual concerns and issues.

An important part of the offer is to strengthen the resilience of the affected parents for their everyday lives as well as to show them possible strategies for coping with trauma. The additional exchange within the group, listening and being heard, have a valuable effect far beyond the weekend itself and contribute to valuable networking in the field of self-help.

The CSS Foundation regularly grants an award to organisations that are committed to social programmes within society.
