A refuge in the canton of Vaud
For several years now, ARFEC, the Western Switzerland Association of Families with a Child with Cancer, has had a free holiday apartment in Leysin on offer to provide those affected with a valuable retreat all year round. Thanks to Catherine and Silvio Giobellina, who have supported ARFEC for years, every family is given a warm welcome and is looked after during their stay. The comfortable and quiet accommodation can accommodate up to six people and has a sunny balcony and a garden. The proximity to Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) gives families a sense of security during this difficult time. The holiday apartment is available both during and after the treatments, with priority given to families whose child is currently undergoing treatment because illness brings with it many unforeseeable things that often stop people from being able to plan a holiday properly. Cancellation at short notice is not a problem with the apartment in Leysin, on the other hand, and has no financial consequences for the families.
Thanks to the Magic Passes, which are also provided free of charge by ARFEC, families can also discover regional offers such as the restaurant “Le Kuklos” or the many hiking trails in the region. There is also the opportunity to play a round of crazy golf at the local course and then relax in the swimming pool. The aim of the programme is to give the families supported by ARFEC a welcome break and a well-earned moment of relaxation from the stresses of everyday life.
