Activities in Central Switzerland
Colourful, giant bubbles floated through the air. This was the first time the hospital clown Dr. Wolle amazed children and parents alike. The marvellous breakfast buffet provided by Hof Trüllental was a delight and left nothing to be desired. Before dessert, Dr. Wolle once again attracted everyone’s attention. With the help of both his small and big “assistants”, he made the children beam with joy and put a smile on their parents’ faces too. It was an enjoyable day for everyone with good conversations, delicious food and lots of happy faces.
The sewing machines rattled away for the Childhood Cancer Awareness Month of September. Their operators eagerly sketched, cut, filled and sewed. The pupils of the third-grade art and design class worked flat out to ensure that the creatively designed “lavender animal bags” were ready in time for the children’s hospital in Lucerne. They all hoped to bring a little joy to the children with cancer from Central Switzerland and their little brothers and sisters. From adolescents – for children. From the heart.
Another special event for children with cancer and their families from Central Switzerland was this year’s “Adventure Day”. This was organised by the URI Young Chamber of Commerce and took place in idyllic Flüelen am See. On this special day, 20 shrubs and trees were planted together and labelled with the names of the children concerned. “.....’s tree grows here” is written on the lovingly designed wooden signs. After the planting campaign, the Altdorf fire brigade surprised the children: they were allowed to ride in the fire engine and enjoy the magnificent view over Flüelen and the surrounding area from the 30-metre-high aerial rescue device. The children and their families had a fantastic day. And they know that, in the future, they can stop by “their” growing tree any time.
