Mountain magic time for families

Under the motto “standing strong together!”, families taking part are out and about together in the mountains, making new contacts and networking with other affected people. The varied programmes allow them to leave everyday life behind them for a while.

On 5 October 2024, fifteen families and a hard-working management team travelled to the Valbella Resort in Lenzerheide. The team of association president Lilian Baumann spared no effort in decorating the premises in a space-age look, true to the motto “The universe of childhood cancer support”. The varied weekly programme also focussed on the topic: galaxies were encased in glass jars, milk cartons were turned into rockets and space travellers of all ages explored foreign planets on their journey through space. Naturally, there was also plenty of time to experience the local autumn mountains – true to the motto “active together”. An eventful week was rounded off by a fantastic “star glimmer” party.

On 6 October 2024, the families also started their holiday week in Engelberg. This programme is aimed at families whose children are at the start of their follow-up therapy or moving in that direction. To ensure the necessary medical care, the management team, led by board member Rafaela Lustenberger, was supported by two highly dedicated nurses from the cantonal hospitals in Aarau and Lucerne. The focus of this holiday week is on being together as a group and recovering from everyday hospital life, and not even poor weather could dampen the good mood. Excursions into the beautiful mountains of Central Switzerland were just as much a part of the programme as creative handicrafts. The parents also had the opportunity to go on a trip to Lucerne. The week ended with a gala evening featuring a clown who delighted young and old alike.
